Central News Agency (CNA reporter Lu Yen-tzu, Taipei, 18th) The National Treasury Administration, Ministry of Finance, stated today that the deadline for claiming the universal cash handout for newborns born in April of this year is only 5 days away. The current claim rate is about 88.98%, with over 800 individuals yet to claim. Parents are reminded to be mindful of the claim period. The National Treasury Administration issued a press release today stating that for newborns born domestically between April 1 and April 30 of this year who have a birth certificate, and whose mother or father meets the eligibility criteria, the deadline to claim the universal cash handout is May 22 of this year. According to statistics from the National Treasury Administration, there are over 7,500 newborns who were born domestically between April 1 and April 30 of this year and meet the qualifications. Over 6,700 have already claimed the handout, while over 800 have not. Regarding the method of claiming, the National Treasury Administration stated that if the birth mother is eligible, she can claim it in person by bringing the newborn's birth certificate (it is not necessary to complete birth registration first) and the mother's photo identification document. If the birth father or another person claims on their behalf, in addition to the two aforementioned documents, they must also bring the photo identification document of the birth father or the proxy. The National Treasury Administration emphasized that the service for claiming the universal cash handout at post office windows will, in principle, only be available until 5:00 PM on May 22 of this year. Parents of newborns are urged to bring the relevant documents to the post office to claim within the time frame. If they encounter any issues or have related questions during the claim process, they must immediately call the 1988 customer service hotline for assistance. At the same time, as the "Universal Plus One, Government Supports" universal cash handout project concludes on May 22 of this year, the 1988 customer service hotline and post office counters will no longer provide services, and the official website will be taken down simultaneously.
