May TAIEX futures closed at 40,807 points, down 191 points, and in backwardation of 84.82 points compared to the spot market. The Taiwan Futures Exchange had set the opening reference prices for the next two months' index futures contracts at 40,998 points for May futures and 41,176 points for June futures. The Taiwan stock market closed down 280.54 points today at 40,891.82, with a transaction value of NT$990.466 billion. May TAIEX futures closed at 40,807 points, down 191 points, with a trading volume of 71,055 contracts; June futures closed at 40,965 points, down 211 points, with a trading volume of 14,491 contracts.
