(CNA reporter Lu Kang-chun, Hsinchu City, 18th) Amid frequent privacy controversies at aesthetic clinics, Hsinchu City Consumer Protection Officer Liu Hsing-chen said today that two complaint cases have been accepted regarding the local Saint Style Clinic. He has demanded that the relevant businesses properly handle the consumer disputes, genuinely implement refund mechanisms, and protect consumer rights. In a press release, Liu stated that medical treatment areas are highly private spaces. If businesses install recording equipment without prior explicit notification and consent from the individuals involved, it could infringe on consumer privacy rights. In addition to potentially violating the confidentiality obligations of the Medical Care Act, it could also involve criminal charges such as obstruction of privacy and sexual privacy. Liu pointed out that La Glow Aesthetic Clinic's Hsinchu branch has issued a statement claiming there are no hidden or pinhole cameras in the clinic. The Saint Style Clinic's Hsinchu branch stated that while they used to obtain patient consent for recording procedures, they have now completely ceased such practices. Liu stated that two complaint cases have been accepted for the Saint Style Clinic's Hsinchu branch. To protect consumer rights, he has supervised the relevant businesses to process refunds according to their public statements. The businesses should also proactively respond to consumer demands and properly handle follow-up matters such as refunds and compensation. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150518
