Shi Taifeng, head of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Organization Department, stated during a recent local inspection tour that conducting educational activities on 'establishing and practicing a correct view of performance' is a key task for the CCP's party-building efforts this year. He emphasized the integrated promotion of 'learning, investigation, and correction' to ensure this education yields tangible results. The 'correct view of performance' initiative stems from concerns that some CCP officials, seeking promotion, engage in ostentatious and impractical 'vanity projects' to showcase achievements, leading to widespread criticism of wasted public funds. In late February, the General Office of the CCP Central Committee issued a notice on this educational campaign, requiring all party organizations and members to prevent and rectify deviations in their 'view of performance.' The campaign began after the Lunar New Year holiday and is scheduled to conclude by the end of July. According to a report by Beijing Daily today, Shi Taifeng inspected Taizhou County, Guizhou Province, from the 15th to the 16th, visiting the local workgroup for this educational campaign and holding a symposium to gather feedback. He stated that this campaign is a major task for party-building this year and requires a deep understanding of General Secretary Xi Jinping's discourses and 'vivid practices' on the matter. He also mentioned establishing a 'problem list and clearance system' to prevent superficial rectifications, addressing issues like 'new officials ignoring old debts,' and strengthening supervision to ensure the campaign's effectiveness, particularly focusing on leading cadres to have the 'critical few' lead the 'vast majority'.
