Taoyuan Initiates Hengpu and Chengsheng Social Housing Projects; Nearly 1,800 Units Expected to be Completed by 2030

The Taoyuan City Government is planning to build social housing in the 'Hengpu Section' of Dayuan District and the 'Chengsheng Section' of Luzhu District. The two projects will have a combined total of nearly 1,800 units. The design-build contracts have recently been put up for public bidding, with construction expected to start next year and completion targeted for the year 119 of the Republic Era (2030). The Taoyuan City Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development stated today that the Hengpu social housing project is located within the Taoyuan Aerotropolis, with a total project budget of approximately NT$8.358 billion, and is planned to have 955 residential units. Construction is expected to begin in the year 116 (2027). The project plans to include a public childcare center and a daycare facility for persons with disabilities. Additionally, there will be a youth housing zone with a 'space-sharing concept,' aiming to create a new model of co-living through shared living rooms, kitchens, and laundry facilities. The Chengsheng social housing project in Luzhu District was announced for bidding on May 11, with a total project budget of about NT$6.81 billion, and is planned for 790 residential units, with construction expected to start in the year 116 (2027). The design focuses on 'green' and 'low-carbon' principles, planning to establish a youth service center and a community living facility for persons with disabilities. In addition to connecting with the overall transportation network of the Aerotropolis, it will also incorporate YouBike stations based on the surrounding landscape to create a low-carbon, energy-efficient living circle. The Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department explained that the Hengpu social housing is about 600 meters from the future Green Line G18 station, close to National Freeway No. 2 and Yuanlin Road, with bidding expected to be announced in late May. The Chengsheng social housing is near the Airport MRT Line A11 Kengkou Station, about a 10-minute drive from Taoyuan International Airport. Through a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategy, both project sites will obtain 'Building Energy Efficiency 1+' and other certifications to provide citizens with better living quality.
