Sun An-Tso Detained and Questioned Over Flamethrower Test; Court Hearing in the Afternoon

Sun An-Tso (also known as Sun Chien-hao), son of actor Sun Peng, and a man surnamed Chen were allegedly involved in testing a homemade flamethrower by a creek and posting a video online. The Shilin District Prosecutors Office searched and detained the two, requested the detention of Sun, and released Chen on NT$30,000 bail. The Shilin District Court is scheduled to hold a detention hearing this afternoon at 2:30 PM. The Shilin District Prosecutors Office stated that after a video of individuals using a flamethrower by a creek circulated on social media, which was dangerous and seemed to be intentionally spread, seriously affecting public order, prosecutors directed the police on the 16th to search the residences of Sun and Chen. They seized a shoulder-mounted flamethrower device, oil pipes, industrial flammable gas storage cans, a modified shotgun, a replica gun, and marijuana. After questioning, prosecutors determined that Sun is suspected of committing offenses including public intimidation, attempted arson, endangering public transportation by other means, and violations of the Controlling Guns, Ammunition and Knives Act for possessing a lethal firearm and a prohibited replica gun. Due to a substantial risk of flight, destruction of evidence, and collusion with accomplices, prosecutors have requested his detention. Chen was released on NT$30,000 bail for his alleged involvement.
