(CNA, New Taipei, May 17, reported by Wang Hung-kuo) Since its opening, the Danjiang Bridge has attracted many visitors. A motorcyclist on a yellow-plated heavy motorcycle, apparently unable to resist the beautiful scenery, illegally stopped on the bridge's traffic lanes to take photos, both coming and going. The police departments of both Danshui and Luzhou districts will issue fines, with the total amount starting from NT$6,000.
The Bali end of the Danjiang Bridge is under the jurisdiction of the Luzhou Police Precinct, while the Danshui end is managed by the Danshui Police Precinct. This morning at 6 a.m., on the northbound lane towards Danshui in Bali District, a rider of a yellow-plated heavy motorcycle stopped on the shoulder to take pictures. Subsequently, at 6:27 a.m., the same rider circled back to the southbound lane and once again illegally stopped to take photos.
Police stated that since the violations were more than 6 minutes apart and occurred at locations more than one intersection away, they are considered separate offenses and can be penalized individually. Therefore, both police precincts will contact the Directorate General of Highways to obtain violation footage and will issue separate citations and fines.
According to the police, under Article 33 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, illegally slowing down, temporarily stopping, or parking on an expressway is punishable by a fine of NT$3,000 to NT$6,000. The total from the two tickets will start at NT$6,000 and could go as high as NT$12,000. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150517
