The Wei Chuan Dragons of the CPBL have achieved remarkable success in developing pitchers in recent years, earning the nickname 'Manager Yeh's Regeneration Factory' from fans. Manager Yeh Chun-Chang admitted that the team indeed has a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), but it requires four key elements to be in place for a high success rate: the player's mentality, technique, physical condition, and time. Pitcher Chen Wei-Hao, released by the TSG Hawks last season, returned to the first team yesterday and pitched one scoreless inning. Jen-Ho Tseng, released by the Rakuten Monkeys last year, has earned two consecutive wins in two starts for the Dragons this year, allowing only one run in 11.2 innings. These two so-called 'cast-offs' have found success with the Dragons. Yeh Chun-Chang stated that he sets certain indicators to judge whether to pursue these players. For instance, with Jen-Ho Tseng's past good performance, 'I believe he can return to form, and even if not at his best, 80-90% is still very good, so we would choose him.' As for Chen Wei-Hao, his performance with the Hawks caught Yeh's attention, and since he only had a bone spur issue, Yeh believed he could return to his prime. Current first-team reliever Lin Hsin-Chieh also went undrafted before joining the Dragons. Yeh pointed out that Lin previously had a fastball over 150 km/h, and his signing with the MLB's Philadelphia Phillies suggested he was highly regarded.
