Hualien's Qixingtan Stone Stacking Art Festival Offers Prize Money for Photography and Short Video Contests

The 2026 Pacific International Stone Stacking Art Festival is currently underway at Qixingtan, running until June 30th. A stone stacking photography contest and a short video creation contest, with total prize pools of NT$100,000 and NT$60,000 respectively, are accepting submissions until May 27th and May 31st. The Hualien County Government's Tourism Department stated that the festival at Qixingtan's Blue Sky Plaza combines natural landscapes, healing aesthetics, and international exchange, attracting not only artists from home and abroad but also inviting the public to capture the beauty of stone stacking by the Pacific Ocean. The exhibition area is specially equipped with solar-powered lights for nighttime illumination, allowing the stone stacking works to present different styles day and night, creating an around-the-clock artistic experience. During the event, there are also scheduled guided tours every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, as well as various activities such as check-in prize draws, the short video creation contest, and the photography contest. The Tourism Department pointed out that the 'Stone Stacking Photography Contest' has a total prize pool of NT$100,000, soliciting entries that include Qixingtan's stone stacking works, starry skies, and interactive landscape scenes, with submissions welcome before May 27. The 'Stone Stacking Short Video Creation Contest,' with a total prize pool of NT$60,000, has a submission deadline of May 31. It uses the popular 9:16 vertical format, encouraging people to creatively film the art displays, event records, parent-child experiences, and the wonderful fusion of nature and art, to let more people know about Hualien through social media sharing.
