High Temperature Warning for Southern Taiwan; Hot Weather to Persist Island-wide Until May 26

Taipei, May 17 (CNA) - The Central Weather Administration issued a high-temperature alert for southern Taiwan today, with Tainan under an orange alert for potentially sustained temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius, and Kaohsiung and Pingtung under a yellow alert. Meteorologist Wu Der-rong stated that from today until May 26, Taiwan will experience stable, clear, and summer-like hot weather, with the next significant weather front not expected for more than ten days. According to Wu's analysis in his 'Hsieh Tien Chi Classroom' column, based on the latest European model simulations, Taiwan will be under the influence of a warm airmass preceding a stationary front located from southern Japan to southern China. This will result in stable, hot daytime conditions across the island, with only localized afternoon showers or thunderstorms in mountainous areas. The public is advised to take precautions against heat and sun exposure.
