Taipei, May 17 (CNA) -- Following the death of an employee by asphyxiation at a Taipei escape room, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated today that if the central government can provide a specialized law, a unified management system, or safety standards, local governments will have a basis to follow. An employee of the 'Logic & Reason' escape room, who was playing a hanging ghost, died of suffocation on the 15th after the incident on the 10th. Yesterday, Chiang Wan-an said that the city has initiated public safety inspections for all such businesses, demanding they implement safety management, and will work with the central government to promote a management system for the related industry. This morning, during a media interview at the opening press conference for the 'CTBC 60th Anniversary' baseball exhibition, Chiang Wan-an addressed the issue of escape room industry management. He stated that if the central government can provide a specialized law, a unified management system, or safety standards, local governments will have a basis to follow, noting that legislators have made specific proposals in the past. Chiang said that the city government conducted an immediate inspection and ordered the business to suspend operations right after the incident, and the next day ordered its branch to also cease operations. A comprehensive inspection of all escape room-related venues has been launched, and operators will be required to implement safety management. The media also asked about the sealing of trash cans at Dahu Park, with former legislator Kao Chia-yu questioning if this would solve the rodent problem.
