Survey: Teachers Most Concerned About AI Misinformation, Pornographic and Violent Content
A survey by the Huang Kun-Huei Education Foundation found that teachers in Taiwan are most concerned about AI's ability to filter violent/pornographic content and prevent students from being misled by AI-generated fake information or images. They also worry about over-reliance on AI hindering critical thinking.

(Central News Agency reporter Chen Chih-Cheng, Taipei 16th) A survey on "Ethical Issues in AI Application" released today by the Huang Kun-Huei Education Foundation shows that teachers are most concerned about whether AI (Artificial Intelligence) can effectively filter violent and pornographic content, and how to prevent students from being misled by AI-generated fake information and fake images.
The Huang Kun-Huei Foundation completed 3,084 survey samples among active elementary and secondary school teachers via online questionnaire between March 17th and April 11th, and today announced the results of the "Public Opinion Survey on Ethical Issues in AI Application" in Taipei.
Converting the scale scores to percentages, "Safety and Health" was the dimension teachers cared about most. Among these, the highest-rated items were "AI systems must effectively filter violent, pornographic or inappropriate content for students (82.57 points)" and "Avoiding students being misled by AI-generated fake information or fake images (82.57 points)".
Additionally, teachers are also highly concerned about how to prevent students from overly relying on AI and losing independent thinking and judgment; cultivating students with core competencies that are not easily replaceable in the AI era; and respecting original creators' copyrights.
Foundation Chairman Huang Kun-Huei stated that AI can assist students in personalized learning and improve autonomous learning effectiveness, but rapidly obtaining answers does not equate to truly learning. If students improperly rely on AI, it may weaken their deep thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Huang Kun-Huei said that educational institutions cannot cope with the risks and impacts of AI alone. They should raise their level, integrate resources from various ministries, and connect with private sector forces to build a safe defense line.
Yang Chen-Hua, Vice President of National Taiwan Normal University, who attended the press conference today, also stated that elementary and secondary school students' judgment is still developing, and without proper protection and guidance, they can easily be influenced by incorrect information.
Yang Chen-Hua mentioned that even if AI performs well in knowledge transfer and practice feedback, teachers are still irreplaceable because the essence of education is human-to-human connection, requiring companionship, understanding, encouragement, and providing support and direction when students encounter difficulties.
