Central News Agency (CNA) reporter Li Hui-ting, Pingtung County, 16th May. Premier Cho Jung-tai inspected the construction progress of the HSR Pingtung Station special district today. Premier Cho stated that the goal is to build a new dual-rail core, accelerate the completion of six major construction projects, and drive regional tourism and development.

The total area of the HSR Pingtung Station special district is 307.15 hectares. Besides the HSR Pingtung Station, it includes six major constructions: the TRA Liukuaicuo Station, Pingtung Science Park, expansion of the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park, Pingtung International Baseball Stadium in the sports and leisure park, and the Pingtung Science and Technology Experimental High School. Today, Premier Cho, accompanied by Pingtung County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi, Minister of Transportation and Communications Chen Shih-kai, and Minister of Sports Lee Yang, inspected the relocation plan of Liukuaicuo Station, the investment attraction status for the expansion of the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park, and the construction progress of the Pingtung International Baseball Stadium.

Premier Cho said that construction within the special district is proceeding. The relocation of the TRA Liukuaicuo Station to the HSR special district and its integration with the HSR Pingtung Station form the first puzzle piece, creating a new dual-rail core. This reflects the government's determination to push HSR eastward to Pingtung. The central and local governments are cooperating to accelerate the completion of the six puzzle pieces of the six major constructions, attracting more tourists, sports fans, and industry professionals to Pingtung to boost regional tourism and stimulate regional development.

Premier Cho mentioned that construction must not affect the current TRA train operation, otherwise, it would cause inconvenience to the lives of local residents. In addition, many large trees were found on-site, and construction should properly protect these trees so they can continue to watch Pingtung grow and thrive.

Premier Cho stated that in addition to transportation, sports, medical care, culture, and education construction, the central government also looks forward to seeing the development of Pingtung's tourism industry. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications launched the 'Flagship Project of the Peak of Northern Return – Smile South Bay IN Taiwan Project' this year. In Pingtung, it includes the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area and the Kenting 'Peninsula Tourism Highlight Project'. He hopes that by proposing connections, they can build brilliant tourism spotlights in the south.

Magistrate Chou Chun-mi said that industrial upgrading requires transportation accessibility. Pingtung is currently striving for the HSR extension to Pingtung, the Kaohsiung-Pingtung second express highway, the South Pingtung express highway, the extension of the Kaohsiung MRT to Pingtung, the South Pingtung sightseeing railway, and the improvement of the South-Link railway line and double-tracking of bottlenecks (Fangliao Grand Platform), all of which are centennial constructions crucial to Pingtung. The Kaohsiung-Pingtung second express highway is expected to break ground in the second half of the year. The TRA Liukuaicuo Station relocation plan is also the first step for the HSR extension. 'With HSR coming in, the whole industry can run fast.'

Chou Chun-mi said that the HSR special district is over 300 hectares, including industry, transportation construction, sports park, and residential/commercial areas. Two manufacturers have already broken ground in the Pingtung Science Park, and the TSMC supply chain will also move in. At the same time, 8 roads are planned within the special district and are under construction to provide more convenient transportation.
