(Central News Agency, Keelung, 16th) The food stall area on the second floor of Keelung's Ren-ai Market has been closed for the past two months to improve its air conditioning. The city government stated today that the renovation project is complete, and vendors will be allowed to return starting tomorrow, with the ability to flexibly resume operations based on their own preparation status.

Ren-ai Market is known as the "Kitchen of Keelung" and is a must-visit food destination for many tourists. However, because the air conditioning equipment had not been updated in over 30 years, the summer dining environment was hot and stuffy. To create a more comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient dining environment for the market, the city government's Department of Industrial Development began replacing the air conditioning equipment this March, resulting in a full two-month closure of the second floor.

Director Tsai Fu-ning of the Department of Industrial Development said through a press release today that since the project began, major items such as the replacement of 226 air handling units, the dismantling and replacement of water chillers, the replacement of cooling towers, the replacement of insulation pipelines, and the renewal of outdoor cooling water pipes have been completed and tested, and all are operating normally. After the air conditioning unit upgrade, energy efficiency will be significantly increased by 28.6%, saving approximately 570,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

Tsai Fu-ning said that Ren-ai Market will allow vendors to return and organize their stalls starting tomorrow, and they can flexibly resume business based on their own preparations, looking forward to welcoming consumers again in a refreshed and more comfortable environment.
