Heavy Rain Alert for Kaohsiung, Pingtung Mountains; Nantou, Yunlin, Tainan to Watch for Heavy Rain

(Central News Agency, Taipei, May 16) The Central Weather Administration announced this afternoon that due to strong convective cloud systems, which are prone to short-duration heavy rainfall, there is a chance of localized heavy rain or torrential rain in Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, and mountainous areas of Chiayi County. Localized heavy rain is also possible in Chiayi County, Nantou, Yunlin, and mountainous areas of Tainan.

The Weather Administration reminds the public to watch out for lightning and strong winds. In mountainous areas, people should be wary of landslides, falling rocks, and rising river levels, and in low-lying areas, be cautious of flooding. (Editor: Wu Su-jou) 1150516
