(CNA, Reporter Tai Ya-chen, Tokyo, 14th) Regarding the U.S.-China summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara stated today, "It is crucial that U.S.-China relations can contribute to the stability of the international community." He added that the Japanese government will continue to closely monitor related developments with great interest.

According to TV Asahi, Kihara pointed out at a regular press conference, "It is very important that U.S.-China relations can contribute to the stability of the international community, including Japan," and stated that the Japanese government will closely watch the development of U.S.-China interactions based on this understanding.

Regarding the Taiwan issue, which is expected to be one of the focuses of this U.S.-China summit, Kihara reiterated, "Japan's consistent position is to hope for a peaceful resolution through dialogue."
