Rubio: US and China Agree Strait of Hormuz Should Not Be Militarized

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in an interview with NBC News that the Trump-Xi meeting included discussions on the Iran war and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, but the US did not seek China's help in dealing with Iran. Rubio noted that both the US and China oppose the militarization of the strait and any toll-collection systems. While many expected Trump to ask for China's assistance to resolve the standoff causing high global oil prices, Rubio clarified that they did not ask for nor need China's help. He also defended Trump's stance, stating that Iran cannot use US domestic politics to force a bad deal.
