Rhode Island Legislature Passes Pro-Taiwan Resolution to Promote Substantive Bilateral Trade Exchanges

The Rhode Island State Legislature passed a pro-Taiwan resolution on the 12th, hoping to sign a memorandum of understanding on trade exchanges and establish a trade office in Taiwan. The resolution supports deepening the Taiwan-US partnership in trade, technology (including artificial intelligence), and the defense industry. It also encourages signing an agreement to avoid double taxation to promote investment and employment. Director of TECO in Boston, Charles Liao, stated that this resolution gives the Taiwanese people more confidence and courage to defend freedom and democracy in the face of authoritarian threats. Furthermore, the resolution supports Taiwan's participation in international organizations such as the WHO and ICAO.
