Prosecutor Appeals 2-Year Sentence for Social Worker in Child Abuse Case

The Taipei District Court sentenced social worker Chen Shang-jie to two years in prison for negligence resulting in the death of a toddler named Kai-kai. Chen was found to have failed her duty to monitor the child's well-being, ignoring severe bruises and weight loss. However, she was acquitted of document forgery. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office filed an appeal today, challenging the acquittal and the leniency of the sentence, seeking a more severe punishment for the social worker's oversight.
