KMT Think Tank: 44.3% of Public Support Equidistant Ties with US and China

A recent poll by the National Policy Research Foundation (NPRF), a KMT-affiliated think tank, reveals that 44.3% of Taiwanese citizens believe the nation should maintain an equal distance from both the US and China. The survey found that 41% of respondents expressed distrust in the US, surpassing the 36.4% who trust it. Regarding the potential 'Trump-Xi meeting,' 53% of the public are not worried about its impact on Taiwan's interests. On defense, 40% support the recently passed NT$780 billion budget ceiling for US arms purchases. NPRF CEO Chang Hsien-yao stated that the results reflect a mainstream desire for strategic depth rather than siding exclusively with one power.
