Executive Yuan Plans Additional Defense Budget; DPP Caucus Welcomes the Move

After the Legislative Yuan passed an opposition-backed Defense Special Act that slashed the proposed budget by NT$470 billion and excluded drone purchases, the Executive Yuan is considering a new special act or additional budgets to compensate. DPP Caucus Whip Chuang Jui-hsiung stated the caucus welcomes these efforts to patch the holes in national defense. However, he noted that expanding the general budget might crowd out other funds, and any approach will likely face prolonged political battles in the legislature.
