(CNA Reporter Tsao Ya-yen, New Taipei, 15th) The New Taipei City Transportation Department announced that starting today, the "LINE Pay Money Transit Code" is available for use on dual Taipei city buses, Taipei MRT, and the New Taipei MRT Circular Line. Passengers can complete their payment by simply opening LINE on their smartphones and scanning the code when boarding/alighting or passing through MRT gates.

According to a press release issued by the Transportation Department, the launch of the LINE Pay Money Transit Code runs parallel with existing payment methods like Easy Wallet, iPASS MONEY, and icash Pay, and is eligible for the current two-way transfer discounts between the MRT and buses. Once users complete app registration and binding, they can open the LINE Pay page, click on the transit code, and travel smoothly across the dual Taipei public transportation system using their phones.

The Transportation Department stated that when using the transit code, passengers must complete scanning upon boarding/alighting buses or entering/exiting MRT gates. To enjoy the transfer discount, the same electronic payment tool must be used for both legs of the journey, and the transfer must occur within the stipulated time. The discount will be applied as a "post-trip rebate," meaning it will be credited back to the user's electronic payment account on a monthly basis by the 28th of the following month.

The Transportation Department also noted that when using the transit code, the verification process is complete as soon as the ticket reader displays a successful scan and emits a prompt sound. There is no need to wait for the mobile phone to display a payment notification, thereby avoiding disruption to the boarding and alighting flow of passengers behind. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 1150515
