Chiang Wan-an: Smoke-Free City Plan Ready by Year-End, Estimated 100 Million NTD to be Spent by Late June

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an announced that the planning for a smoke-free city will be completed by the end of this year. During a city council report, Chiang stated that the first phase, ending in late June, is expected to cost approximately 100 million NTD. The initial rollout will focus on the Zhongshan and Ximending commercial districts, as well as Dunhua North/South Road and Xinyi Road, where negative-pressure smoking rooms and green hedge smoking areas will be installed. Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua added that 8 more negative-pressure smoking rooms will be set up before July, and the city will monitor usage to plan future locations and reduce costs.
