Taiex Rises 377.25 Points

Taipei, May 14 (CNA) - The Taipei stock market closed up 377.25 points today at 41751.75, a 0.91% increase, with a turnover of NT$1.216778 trillion.

The TAIEX opened at 41496.23, reached a high of 42205.62 and a low of 41496.23 during the session. The index excluding financial stocks closed at 37909.77, up 378.38 points.

The performance of the eight major sectors: Cement & Pottery down 0.88%, Food down 0.49%, Plastics down 1%, Textiles down 0.84%, Electrical Machinery up 1.18%, Paper up 0.42%, Construction down 0.87%, Financials down 0.38%.

Buying orders were 25,201,663 lots, selling orders were 18,008,650 lots, and the total traded volume was 14,261,740 lots.

At closing, 343 stocks advanced, 689 declined, and 69 were unchanged.

The top 5 stocks by trading volume were Innolux, Juh-dong Unified Upgrade 50, Winbond, UMC, and AUO.

The top 5 gainers were Holy Stone, Chan-yu, Walsin Technology, Yageo*, and Largan.
