Suspected Thunderstorm Causes Line Trip, Power Outage Affects 110,000 Households in Multiple Nantou County Townships

A total of 108,894 residential customers were affected. After the line was checked and found to be clear, power was gradually restored within half an hour.

The Central Weather Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications issued a severe thunderstorm warning this afternoon for parts of Nantou, Chiayi, and Yunlin counties, advising of short-duration heavy rainfall accompanied by strong gusts, lightning, and thunder. It also warned the public to be cautious of flash floods, landslides, rockfalls, and low visibility. Additionally, due to the influence of a weather front and vigorous convective cloud development, the weather administration also issued a heavy rain advisory for areas including Nantou County.

Taiwan Power Company stated that the 161kV Juh-gong to Puli line tripped at 5:53 PM this afternoon, likely due to the thunderstorm. This caused power outages at substations in Puli, Wanda, Lancheng, Yuchi, Shuishe, Shuili, and Beishan, affecting a total of 108,894 residential customers. After the line was checked and found to be undamaged, the 161kV system power supply was restored at 6:14 PM, and the distribution feeder system subsequently restored power to each substation one by one.
