Scaffolding Collapses at Xinzhuang Construction Site, Leaving 1 Dead and 1 Injured; City Government Orders Work Stoppage and Issues 90,000 NTD Fine

A scaffolding collapse occurred on the morning of the 14th at a construction site in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City. A worker fell from a height and sustained severe injuries, while another temporary worker on the ground was crushed by the scaffolding and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The New Taipei City Public Works Department inspected the site, which belongs to Huang Hsiang Construction, and found inadequate safety measures during the dismantling process. The city ordered an immediate work stoppage and imposed a fine of 90,000 NTD.
