(Central News Agency, Penghu County, 14th) Penghu County's early summer "Lily Festival" kicked off today at Magong Third Fishing Port International Plaza. Approximately 57,000 lily plants are cultivated across nearly 3,000 square meters in various recreational areas, parks, green spaces, communities, and schools throughout the county, including village roads and field ridges, allowing tourists to admire the beautiful sea of flowers.

Penghu Deputy County Commissioner Lin Chieh-hsing led officials from the Penghu County Government's Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau, Education Department, and Social Affairs Department to unveil the event. Teachers and students from Wenguang Elementary School became the first batch of flower-viewing visitors, experiencing the beauty of the natural landscape, and each person also received a pot of lilies to take home and plant.

Lin Chieh-hsing stated that Penghu Island is like a large park, and Penghu County Commissioner Chen Kuang-fu hopes that every area will have a park-like feel with different seas of flowers each season. This year, the "Taiwan Lily," a Taiwanese endemic species suitable for blooming in Penghu's summer, was chosen. In the future, there will also be Beach Morning Glory and Ocean Morning Glory, allowing flowers to be seen everywhere on Penghu Island.

The Penghu Forestry Park Management Office stated that the flowering season is expected to last until June; the Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau said that to promote home greening with lilies, over 10,000 lily bulbs were provided for residents to collect and plant, and also appealed to the public not to pick or trample flowers when enjoying them.
