(Central News Agency, Taipei, 14th) The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) will hold its rookie player draft this year on June 29, with the tryout scheduled for June 15 at Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium. The tryout will continue last year's format of a team-based scrimmage, limited to 104 participants. Online registration for both the draft and the tryout opens today.

The CPBL announced the schedule for this year's draft and tryout today. Taiwan Sports Lottery is the title sponsor of the rookie draft for the fifth consecutive year. Registration closes at 12:00 PM on June 17. All players who have been selected for national teams since 2021, including for the World Baseball Classic (WBC) and its qualifiers (WBCQ), the Premier12, the World University Games, the U23 and U18 World Cups, the Asian Championship, the Asian Youth Championship, and the Asian Games, are eligible to register.

Additionally, players can be recommended by the league or its member clubs, or those who have placed in the top three in individual statistics in the Popcorn League, the top-division adult spring league, or the University Baseball League (Open Division I) in the past year are also eligible. Graduating high school students must be recommended by a league-affiliated club or a coach from a high school wooden bat league team.

Those who do not meet the above qualifications can register for the rookie player tryout and enter the draft process after being recommended by a club. Eligibility for the tryout includes registered players from the 2026 and 2025 national top-division adult spring leagues, the 2025 and 2024 Popcorn Leagues, and the 2025 and 2024 University Baseball Leagues (Open Division I).

The rookie tryout will adopt a scrimmage format, expected to be divided into 4 teams, with two teams playing against each other in the morning and two in the afternoon, following a full 10-inning game system. Pitchers are limited to one inning each with a pitch count limit, while fielders will rotate to test their hitting and fielding.

The tryout is limited to 104 participants, including 40 pitchers, 8 catchers, 32 infielders, and 24 outfielders. Registration for each position will close once it is full. The registration status will be updated regularly on the registration website. The deadline is 12:00 PM on June 4, but it will close earlier if the quota is met. (Editor: Li Hsi-chang) 1150514
