(Central News Agency reporter Chang Chien-chung, Hsinchu, 13th) Renewable energy operator YPE announced today that it has signed an agreement with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a fund under BlackRock, to acquire its cluster of operational solar power projects in Taiwan, with a total installed capacity of 187MW. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the third quarter, which will enhance its overall operational scale and expand its footprint in the renewable energy market.
YPE issued a press release stating that the acquired targets include 42 operational solar power projects located in central and southern Taiwan. These projects are estimated to generate 270 million kWh of electricity annually, capable of supplying the full-year electricity needs of approximately 80,000 households, and will provide long-term green electricity transfer revenue.
Industry insiders estimate that, based on current market conditions, the total acquisition amount for YPE could exceed NT$10 billion.
YPE Vice General Manager Tan Yu-hsuan stated that through this acquisition, the group will further strengthen its strategic deployment in Taiwan's renewable energy market. Besides expanding its own power generation scale, it will also enable its electricity sales subsidiary, Skyline Green Power, to enhance its green electricity transfer scale and long-term allocation capabilities.
YPE Chief Investment Officer Chen Chun-chieh stated that the group has established a long-term cooperative foundation with BlackRock on various solar power projects in Taiwan since 2018. They will continue to deepen their cooperative relationship in the future, working together to expand renewable energy deployment and jointly promote the development of the green energy market.
