Central News Agency, Taipei, 13th - U.S. President Trump's 'Air Force One' arrived at Beijing Capital Airport tonight around 8 PM, beginning his state visit to China. According to on-site footage, the Chinese side adopted a high-standard reception, with Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng greeting him. Approximately 100 young men and women were arranged to stand on both sides of the red carpet, waving U.S. and Chinese national flags in synchronized movements to welcome Trump as he disembarked.
CCTV News reported that at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump (Donald Trump) is conducting a state visit to China from May 13th to 15th.
This is the second face-to-face meeting between the leaders of the U.S. and China following their meeting in Busan last October, and it is the first visit by a U.S. president to China in nine years.
According to the arrangements, Trump will hold talks with Xi Jinping in Beijing on the morning of the 14th. During his stay in Beijing, he will also visit the Temple of Heaven, instead of the Forbidden City which he visited during his 2017 trip. He is scheduled to leave Beijing to return to the U.S. on the 15th.
Before Trump's arrival, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that summit diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic leading role in China-U.S. relations, and that China welcomes President Trump's state visit. During the visit, the two heads of state will have an in-depth exchange of views on major issues concerning China-U.S. relations and 'world peace and development'.
He also claimed that China is willing to work with the U.S. in a spirit of equality, respect, and mutual benefit to expand cooperation and manage differences, 'injecting more stability and certainty into a world of turmoil and change.' (Editor: Chiu Kuo-chiang / Yang Sheng-ju) 1150513
