(Central News Agency reporter Huang Chiao-wen, Taipei, May 13) A Taiwan Railway electrification line fault on the western track between Shoufeng and Fenglin occurred this morning, causing single-track operations on the eastern track. Taiwan Railway Company announced that after emergency repairs, normal dual-track service resumed at 12:26 PM today.

Taiwan Railway stated via message that at 8:44 AM today on the Hualien-Taitung Line (at K30+520 near Fenglin Station), one pantograph of Puyuma Express train 402 was damaged, and jumper wires on electric poles K23/22, K27/34, and K28/14 were broken.

Taiwan Railway stated that train 406 was arranged to pick up passengers from train 402 at Fenglin Station, and a separate set of train 402 was specially dispatched from Taitung Station.

Affected by this incident, single-track, two-way operations were implemented between Shoufeng and Fenglin. Taiwan Railway pointed out that after emergency repairs, electric pole K23/22 was repaired at 10:41 AM; electric pole K27/34 at 11:14 AM; and electric pole K28/14 at 11:18 AM.

Taiwan Railway stated that after inspection by the power maintenance vehicle, the electrification line on the western track between Shoufeng and Fenglin was confirmed to be normal, and normal dual-track service resumed at 12:26 PM today. (Edited by Li Heng-shan) 1150513
