Central News Agency, Taipei, 13th - Taiwan Mobile stated that its first-quarter earnings per share (EPS) of NT$1.37 was the highest in Taiwan's telecom industry. The momentum from its three major growth engines continues, with mobile service revenue up 3% year-on-year, enterprise service revenue up 26%, and new technology telecom business revenue up 32%, collectively boosting operational scale and profit models, and accelerating transformation.
Taiwan Mobile held its Q1 2026 online institutional investor conference today. For the first quarter, consolidated revenue was NT$49.78 billion, operating income was NT$5.93 billion (a 15% year-on-year increase); Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) was NT$11.35 billion (an 8% year-on-year increase); and net profit after tax was NT$4.15 billion (a 13% year-on-year increase), with an EPS of NT$1.37.
Taiwan Mobile indicated that in the first quarter, the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) for smartphone postpaid subscribers increased by 3% year-on-year to NT$687, and the postpaid churn rate hit a new record low of just 0.51%. The 5G penetration rate climbed to 44.3%, and the monthly fee increase for 4G users upgrading to 5G reached 50%, driving the 5G contribution to mobile service revenue to 68%.
Enterprise services have deeply cultivated telecom, AI data centers, connected vehicles, and cybersecurity services, with first-quarter enterprise service revenue growing 26% year-on-year. The new technology business segment, fueled by contributions from branded e-commerce, gaming, OTT services and content investment, telecom finance, electric vehicle charging services, and Web3 applications, saw its first-quarter revenue increase by 32% year-on-year.
In e-commerce, Taiwan Mobile stated that momo has returned to growth, with its first-quarter Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) increasing by 5% year-on-year; total revenue reached NT$26.59 billion, up 1% year-on-year, with a product gross margin of 13.3%.
Taiwan Mobile's General Manager, Jamie Lin, stated that the first-quarter EPS being the highest in Taiwan's telecom industry is founded on a solid core telecom business. Simultaneously, both the enterprise telecom business and the new technology telecom business have delivered double-digit structural growth.
