(Central News Agency, Taitung, Reporter Lu Tai-cheng, 13th) The Taitung Public Servant Hall, located in a prime area of Taitung City, was originally planned for outsourced management, but after four unsuccessful bidding attempts, the plan failed. Last year, the Taitung County Government decided to transform it into a dormitory for public servants; however, the renovation project has once again failed to attract bidders after two rounds of bidding.

The Public Servant Hall on Nanjing Road in Taitung City was built in 1985 as a public property. At its peak, it had 88 guest rooms, primarily serving public school teachers and civil servants nationwide. However, due to the decline in the domestic travel market and aging hardware two years ago, the Taitung County Government made several attempts to outsource its management, but all four bids failed.

Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling announced during her policy report at the Taitung County Council's regular session last October that after four unsuccessful attempts to attract investment, the Public Servant Hall would be renovated into a dormitory for public servants to revitalize the facility.

Taitung non-partisan County Councilor Wang Wen-yi told the Central News Agency today that the decision to tender the transformation into a public dormitory was made last October, but there has been no progress so far. She also hopes that after the renovation, space sharing will be considered to allow police officers to apply for residency.

Yang Yao-hua, Director of the Taitung County Government's Administrative Affairs Department, stated that although the supervision contract was awarded at the beginning of the year, the turnkey design and construction bid on the 12th was declared a failure again due to incomplete documentation from the bidding manufacturer. The third round of bidding will be conducted as soon as possible. Furthermore, once the design and construction plans become clearer in the future, if there are surplus rooms, the accommodation needs of police and teachers will be included in the allocation discussion. The project is expected to be completed by August of next year at the earliest. (Editor: Wu Su-jou) 1150513
