(Central News Agency reporter Chen Yu-ting, Taipei 13th) The Taipei City Department of Environmental Protection announced that the community rodent detection and prevention service will be launched on the 15th. Households and communities can apply by downloading the "Community Rodent Detection and Prevention Service Application Form" from the department's official website, but applications submitted by management committees are encouraged and will be prioritized.

Taipei City Environmental Protection Department Director Hsu Shih-hsun announced today at a press conference that the community rodent detection and prevention service will open for applications on the 15th. This not only provides convenient services but also hopes to establish a rodent prevention firewall for communities through precise and professional environmental diagnosis.

Hsu Shih-hsun stated that according to expert surveys, the incidence of rats in homes is actually no lower than in markets, and homes are important sources of food and living space for rats. However, in the past, the Environmental Protection Department mainly focused on environmental clean-up in public areas. Through the launch of this rodent detection and prevention service into communities, it is hoped to help private domains find blind spots in rodent prevention.

Regarding manpower, Hsu Shih-hsun said that in addition to the original 80-plus disinfection team members, each person will be assigned 1 to 2 cleaning squad members as detection and prevention assistants, totaling about 200 people. Training will be increased and personnel expanded as needed. He emphasized that rodent control was originally one of the disinfection team's tasks. If they can more actively enter communities for prevention, it will reduce the burden of future clean-up and disinfection.

As for the application method, Hsu Shih-hsun stated that starting from the 15th, individuals can download the "Community Rodent Detection and Prevention Service Application Form" from the Environmental Protection Department's official website. In principle, both households and communities can apply, but since rats do not only live in a single household, applications submitted by management committees are still encouraged and will be prioritized.
