(Central News Agency reporter Hao Hsueh-ching, Taichung, 13th) Taichung City Government launched the 'Good Pregnancy Shuttle' service for expectant mothers in July last year. Mayor Lu Shiow-yen announced today that Uber has been added to the partner fleet, increasing the number of teams from 11 to 12, and the number of vehicles from over 5,000 to over 9,100.

Mayor Lu Shiow-yen first attended the completion and opening ceremony of the affiliated employee childcare center at Yangming Municipal Building in the morning, then rushed back to Taiwan Boulevard Municipal Building to attend the 'Good Pregnancy, Together in Taichung' press conference, announcing the expansion of the Good Pregnancy Shuttle service starting today, with the addition of Uber Formosa Co., Ltd. (Uber).

The Taichung City Good Pregnancy Shuttle was launched in July last year, subsidizing pregnant women for 30 rides, with a maximum subsidy of NT$200 per ride. Mayor Lu Shiow-yen stated that since its launch, over 8,000 expectant mothers have been approved for applications, with a cumulative service of 87,000 rides.

Mayor Lu Shiow-yen announced that Uber has joined the partner fleet starting today, increasing the number of teams from 11 to 12, and the number of service vehicles from over 5,000 to over 9,100, a significant increase of 65% in capacity, making it easier for expectant mothers to hail and wait for rides.

Mayor Lu Shiow-yen pointed out that the original 11 partner fleets were all traditional taxi fleets. Considering that many young expectant mothers use online ride-hailing, to provide better service, the inclusion of diversified taxis required a not-so-easy digital process. Now, the Good Pregnancy Shuttle has successfully upgraded to 2.0, incorporating online diversified taxis, allowing expectant mothers to choose different fleets and encouraging them to hail rides more easily, providing services as long as they are willing to give birth.

Uber stated that it has officially joined the Taichung City Government's 'Taichung City Pregnant Women Transportation Subsidy Implementation Plan.' This cooperation introduces more vehicle resources from partner fleets, and the overall service capacity in the 'Taichung Taxi Business Area' (including Taichung City, Miaoli County, Changhua County, and Nantou County) is expected to increase by 100%, aiming to protect tens of thousands of pregnant women in Taichung, making travel during pregnancy more convenient and reassuring.
