(Central News Agency, Taipei, May 13) Semiconductor probe card and test equipment supplier MPI Corporation today announced its first-quarter financial report. The net profit attributable to parent company owners for the quarter was NT$1.227 billion, a quarterly increase of 29.4% and an annual increase of 69.6%, setting a new single-quarter record. The quarterly profit exceeded one share capital, with basic earnings per share of NT$12.53.
In response to the increasing demand for high-end artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) chip testing, MPI pointed out that it is continuously promoting capacity expansion and expects to further expand its in-house probe production capacity in Taiwan this year.
MPI's first-quarter consolidated revenue was NT$3.933 billion, a quarterly increase of 2.5% and an annual increase of 39%, setting a new single-quarter high. The gross margin for the quarter was 59.45%, an increase of 5.6 percentage points from the previous quarter, also a new single-quarter high.
MPI stated that in the first quarter, it continued to benefit from strong demand in the artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) markets. MPI's demand for semiconductor test equipment and test interface products grew rapidly, with both quarterly revenue and profit hitting new highs.
MPI said that thanks to the rapid growth in AI chip testing demand, the shipment volume of its probe card and related test equipment products reached a record high in the first quarter.
MPI stated that it has long been deeply involved in semiconductor test solutions, with products covering Chip Probing, high-frequency and high-speed testing, Thermal Test, Advanced Semiconductor Testing, and Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) test solutions, and related technologies are gradually showing results.
MPI previously stated that the delivery lead time for its probe card products has been extended to 6 months, and the order visibility for some products reaches 2 years. In terms of capacity layout, MPI said it will continue to expand capacity in the second half of the year, expecting that by the end of this year, its MEMS probe card and vertical probe card (VPC) capacity will increase by 50% compared to 2025.
