(Central News Agency reporter Li Ya-wen, Taipei, May 13) China's Taiwan Affairs Office again discussed Minister of Interior Liu Shih-fang, claiming that she and her relative were 'punished and deserved their fate.' Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) criticized that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is implementing 'cross-border repression' under the guise of 'punishing separatists,' intending to silence Taiwanese citizens through improper implication and pressure on businesses.

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated on the evening of the 13th that Liu Shih-fang has committed no criminal acts, and her relative, Yan Wen-chun, is a professional manager of a listed company, receiving a company salary, and 'did not gain any benefits from mainland China.' The MAC reiterated that the CCP is implementing 'cross-border repression' under the guise of 'punishing separatists,' intending to silence Taiwanese citizens through improper implication of relatives and pressure on businesses.

The MAC stated that this reflects how the CCP deliberately uses public information on political donations, maliciously piecing together and carrying out political retaliation, while simultaneously trying to divide Taiwanese society. Facing the CCP's methods of 'using democracy against democracy,' it is necessary to deeply consider the appropriateness of the current system to prevent hostile foreign forces from harming national security.

Zhang Han, spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, claimed at a regular press conference this morning that 'Liu Shih-fang's engagement in Taiwan independence is a criminal act of splitting the country and inciting national division, and Yan Wen-chun has long gained benefits from mainland China, yet provided political donations to Liu. Both were punished according to law and deserved their fate.'

Regarding Liu Shih-fang's call for citizens to 'think carefully before going to mainland China, as personal and property safety will be intimidated and threatened,' Zhang Han stated that this is an attempt to use Taiwanese people as a shield and create a chilling effect.
