KMT New Taipei Yonghe City Councilor Primary: Chen Yi-le Emerges as Candidate

(Central News Agency, reporters Huang Hsu-Sheng, Tsao Ya-Yen, New Taipei, 13th) The Kuomintang (KMT) New Taipei City chapter announced today that for the 2026 New Taipei City Councilor election in the 7th electoral district (Yonghe), there is one nomination spot available. The results of a public opinion poll show that Chen Yi-le has emerged as the winner. The results will be reported to the nomination review committee for a final decision.

Chen Yi-le is the chief of Minzhi Borough in Yonghe District. Her experience includes being a national party representative for the KMT, president of the Yonghe Youth Work Committee, vice president of the New Taipei City Youth Work General Committee, and a director of the Yonghe District Minquan Community Development Association.

In a telephone interview with the Central News Agency, Chen Yi-le expressed her gratitude for the support of the local community and thanked the other senior participants in the primary. She hopes to unite with them to work for Yonghe's future.

Chen Yi-le stated that because veteran KMT New Taipei City Councilor Lien Fei-fan is not seeking re-election, she had the opportunity to participate in the primary and win. In the future, she hopes to continue Lien Fei-fan's spirit of local service and outstanding political achievements, and to campaign alongside the KMT's mayoral candidate, Lee Ssu-chuan, in the general election.

The KMT New Taipei City chapter issued a press release this morning stating that the results of the primary poll for the 7th electoral district (Yonghe) of the New Taipei City Council (with 2 seats to be nominated in this district) showed that besides the incumbent registered city councilor, there was one nomination spot available. The registered candidates were Chen Yi-le, Chen Po-han, Su Chao-long, and Li Pei-chen.

The city chapter pointed out that a three-day public opinion poll for the primary was conducted from May 10th to 12th. At 10 a.m. today, the poll results were publicly unsealed at the New Taipei City chapter office. The statistical results showed the ranking as Chen Yi-le, Chen Po-han, Su Chao-long, and Li Pei-chen.
