(Central News Agency reporter Guan Ruey-ping, Miaoli County, 13th) Miaoli City's Xishan Shengdi Temple and Yimin Temple received subsidies from the Hakka Affairs Council's 'Hakka Village Revitalization and Environment Creation Project' to improve their physical environment. Hakka Affairs Council Minister Gu Xiu-fei visited today and stated that the Council will continue to support and invest resources to protect and pass on Hakka faith.

Gu Xiu-fei, accompanied by Miaoli County Magistrate candidate Chen Pin-an, visited Xishan Shengdi Temple and Yimin Temple in Miaoli City to inspect the progress of the 'Hakka Village Revitalization and Environment Creation Project.' Chen Shih-hsien, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party Miaoli County Branch, County Councilors Hsu Hsiao-ching and Hsu Ying-ping, as well as Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Shen Fa-hui's office secretary Lian Sen-yu, and Kuomintang Legislator Chiu Chen-chun's service team, were also present.

Through the promotion of the 'Hakka Village Revitalization and Environment Creation Project,' the Hakka Affairs Council subsidized Miaoli City Office NT$9 million in 2024 and the City Office provided NT$1 million in matching funds, totaling NT$10 million for improving the Hakka-themed perimeter walls, pedestrian pathways, plaza paving, and entrance channels of the temples. The project was completed in early February this year. Additionally, in 2023, the Council subsidized the Miaoli County Government NT$9.9 million, with a total budget of NT$11 million for the environmental improvement project around Yimin Temple.

Chen De-hsiung, Chairman of Xishan Shengdi Temple, reported to Gu Xiu-fei, expressing gratitude for the Hakka Affairs Council's assistance with physical space and environmental improvements. However, he noted that the original plan for a 15-meter-wide archway did not receive subsidy for construction and hoped the Hakka Affairs Council could continue its support.

Gu Xiu-fei stated that after the revision of the Act Governing the Allocation of Government Revenues and Expenditures, the Hakka Affairs Council's budget for local subsidies has been significantly reduced, making it impossible to accept new applications this year. However, as archways symbolize and signify the spatial division of temples, and local demand exists, she encouraged them to prepare documentation and apply for next year's budget at year-end, promising the Hakka Affairs Council would do its best to support it.

Gu Xiu-fei said that the two temples visited this time provide spiritual solace for local residents and blessings for society, serving as important local gathering places. The Hakka Affairs Council will continue to support and invest resources to assist in space optimization, improvement of physical facilities and surrounding environment, to protect and pass on the century-old faith spirit and culture of Hakka villages.
