(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-yun, Taipei, 13th) To strengthen the professional ethics and integrity of Coast Guard personnel, the Coast Guard Administration's Integrity Consultation and Lecturer Team today held a "Law Enforcement Ethics for Coast Guard Personnel" special project promotion event, aiming to strengthen law enforcement discipline from the source and provide integrity consultation services.
The Ocean Affairs Council Coast Guard Administration announced in a press release this afternoon that to enhance Coast Guard personnel's understanding of laws and regulations, and to strengthen professional ethics and integrity, it has specially formed an Integrity Consultation and Lecturer Team to comprehensively promote the "Law Enforcement Ethics for Coast Guard Personnel" special project.
At the same time, related activities were also held today at the Education and Training Assessment Center, which cultivates elite Coast Guard personnel. Through practical case analysis and diverse creative course designs, trainees are guided to establish ethical integrity in law enforcement, internalize integrity and compliance awareness into their daily duties and codes of conduct, thereby shaping a clean, impartial, law-ababiding, and self-disciplined Coast Guard law enforcement culture.
The Coast Guard Administration's Government Ethics Office stated that "administering according to law" is the primary principle for public servants. The Coast Guard Administration is responsible for maritime law enforcement, coastal patrol, and combating smuggling, bearing the heavy responsibility of defending maritime borders and fighting crime, which is extremely arduous. The Government Ethics Office assists agency heads in promoting benefits and preventing abuses, protecting everyone from violating laws and regulations.
To establish a strict law enforcement concept among Coast Guard personnel, the Government Ethics Office said that by collaborating with the Education and Training Assessment Center, it integrates professional ethics and integrity education courses into the training programs for various levels of academic and professional education classes for newly appointed and advanced Coast Guard personnel. This strengthens law enforcement discipline from the source and provides integrity consultation services, helping everyone to correctly grasp the boundaries of authority and responsibility and make appropriate legal judgments during their duties, thereby reducing the probability of misconduct and integrity risks.
The Coast Guard Administration stated that this promotion was personally taught by Director Chang You-ning of the Government Ethics Office, who lectured on the "Discussion of Common Crime Cases in the Coast Guard Administration (including the Anti-Corruption Act, fraud, etc.)" course for trainees of the "Sergeant Major Regular Class 29." This aims to cultivate the legal literacy and professional knowledge of grassroots leaders.
In addition, through practical exercises of "group discussions and group reports," trainees are encouraged to reflect on how to implement law-based administration, risk prevention, and correct response methods in their daily work.
The Coast Guard Administration emphasized that grassroots leaders are key to promoting the agency's integrity work. Through diverse and creative teaching models, integrity concepts are integrated into cadre training education, cultivating supervisors with both professional capabilities and integrity. This, in turn, encourages subordinates to follow suit, establishing an impregnable integrity defense line. (Editor: Wu Su-jou)1150513
