Digital transformation is an ongoing process in industries, with artificial intelligence and net-zero carbon emissions being two major challenges faced by governments and businesses, crucial for Taiwan's future competitiveness. The Central News Agency's frontline reporting team deeply investigates how governments and various industries utilize AI to optimize production processes, drive green innovation, and witness Taiwan's industrial leap once again.

(Central News Agency reporter Tseng Jen-kai, Taipei, May 13) Delta Electronics Chairman Cheng Ping stated today that the high-speed development of AI brings impacts and business opportunities to the energy-saving industry, including the increased importance of energy efficiency. AI will also amplify energy-saving potential through intelligent transportation, grid management, and smart buildings. Delta Electronics announced the launch of its sustainability consulting service, hoping to extend its own experience to provide solutions for enterprises' sustainable transformation.

Delta Electronics held the 'Forward Together Forum' today, part of its 55th-anniversary celebration series. Cheng Ping delivered a keynote speech titled 'Sustainability Trends and Industry Focus in the AI Era.' He stated that with the massive construction of AI data centers, power demand has surged. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), power consumption by data centers is estimated to increase by approximately 2.5 times in 10 years.

Cheng Ping stated that AI data centers consume enormous amounts of power, and there is still significant room for improvement in energy efficiency management. If energy efficiency can be improved by 1%, for a single 100MW data center, the electricity saved could power an additional 1,000 households for a year. This presents an excellent opportunity for Delta Electronics.

Cheng Ping believes that in addition to large data centers, for AI to become widespread, it must move towards the edge, including regional data centers, small data centers in enterprises and workshops, and personal devices and robots. Delta Electronics will be involved in all of these.

Furthermore, Cheng Ping believes that AI technology will also amplify energy-saving potential. By introducing AI technology into intelligent transportation, grid management, and smart buildings, it can help save electricity. He cited IEA predictions, estimating that AI could help global energy savings reach 13.5 EJ (Exajoules) in 10 years, equivalent to Taiwan's total electricity consumption for 13.2 years.

Delta Electronics today announced the launch of its sustainability consulting service. Cheng Ping said that Delta Electronics has explored energy saving and sustainability internally for many years, and now hopes to extend its own experience, combined with high-efficiency energy-saving solutions, to provide solutions for enterprises' sustainable transformation.

Lee Li-jen, Senior Director of Delta Electronics' ESG Integrated Planning Office, stated that Delta Electronics established an internal sustainability consulting service department at the end of 2024, aiming to help its supply chain reduce carbon emissions using its past experience in sustainability practices. Secondly, Delta Electronics has been actively transforming towards solution provision in recent years, hoping to develop low-carbon technologies to implement applications such as smart factories, smart microgrids, and green buildings. It has accumulated some achievements in recent years and is now officially launching these services externally.

Lee Li-jen emphasized that Delta Electronics' sustainability consulting service integrates strategic planning, digital tools, and decarbonization implementation capabilities. It can formulate corporate carbon reduction pathways from the source; at the operational end, it manages energy and carbon emission information through a digital service platform to accelerate carbon reduction progress. Finally, it combines Delta Electronics' comprehensive solutions to provide complete services for implementation and performance monitoring. (Editors: Chang Liang-chih) 1150513
