Officers from the Qianzhen Precinct of the Kaohsiung City Police Department explained that at around 7:30 AM, the Qianzhen Street Police Station received a report of a traffic accident at the intersection of Kuojian Road and Guohua 1st Street. Officers dispatched to the scene found that 45-year-old Liu and 55-year-old Luo had collided, resulting in Luo sustaining multiple injuries. Despite emergency medical treatment, Luo succumbed to her injuries.
According to preliminary police investigation, Liu, a forklift driver at the pier, was driving his car eastbound on Kuojian Road to work this morning. At the intersection of Guohua 1st Street, he collided with Luo, who was riding her motorcycle in the slow lane of Kuojian Road and proceeding to turn left from the waiting area. Liu tested negative for drunk driving. The cause of the accident awaits analysis and clarification by the traffic division.
Police stated that according to the on-site signs and markings, when a motorcycle rider on Kuojian Road intends to turn left at a red light, they should stop behind the stop line. After the straight-ahead direction of Kuojian Road turns green, they should proceed to the two-stage left-turn waiting area and wait.
