(Central News Agency, Bordeaux 13th, Comprehensive Foreign Report) French authorities stated today that due to the suspected death of one passenger from norovirus infection, a cruise ship docked in Bordeaux has been ordered to implement quarantine measures, prohibiting over 1,700 passengers and crew onboard from disembarking.
Agence France-Presse reported that the "Ambition" ship, belonging to Ambassador Cruise Line, arrived in Bordeaux, a western French port, on the 12th. There were a total of 1233 passengers onboard, most of whom were from the UK or Ireland.
Health officials indicated that a 90-year-old passenger unfortunately passed away, and approximately 50 others exhibited symptoms of norovirus, a highly contagious gastroenteritis that causes vomiting and diarrhea.
The "Ambition" departed from the Shetland Islands on the 6th and had called at Belfast, Northern Ireland, Liverpool, UK, and Brest, France, before arriving in Bordeaux. According to its original itinerary, the "Ambition" was next scheduled to head to Spain. (Translated by Liu Shuqin) 1150513
