(Central News Agency reporter Chiang I-Ching, Yunlin County 13th) Huwei University of Science and Technology and the National Sports Science Center today jointly signed a memorandum of cooperation, aiming to promote the data-driven, precise, and scientific development of sports training through data analysis and empirical research, hoping to connect research outcomes with frontline training.

HUtech President Chang Hsin-Liang and National Sports Science Center Chairman Wei Shun-Hua signed a three-year cooperation agreement today, focusing on sports science research and talent cultivation. The cross-disciplinary team led by Chang Hsin-Liang will participate in the cooperation, and the National Sports Science Center will connect sports science research, competitive training needs, and talent cultivation resources.

Wei Shun-Hua stated that HUtech's self-developed intelligent track and field analysis system helped athlete Yeh Po-Ting break the national record at the 113th (2024) National Intercollegiate Athletic Games. The team focuses on athletes, solving problems with technology, and achieving excellent results. He hopes for continued support from the university to jointly advance continuous training for athletes, allowing talented athletes to grow steadily under the protection and guidance of scientific methods.

Yeh Po-Ting said that he can use the system during practice to track his run-up path, high jump angle, etc., allowing him to quickly improve. He estimated that without the system's assistance, it might take 5 to 8 years to achieve such excellent results. He is currently fully striving for the Nagoya Asian Games in Japan to win glory for the country.

Chang Hsin-Liang stated that the university possesses professional technologies in engineering, science, and information technology, which are substantially helpful for sports science research. For example, his involvement in bicycle chainring research found that non-circular chainrings can make cyclists ride more effectively. Moving forward, he and the National Sports Science Center will continue to develop more sports toward data-driven and precise development. (Editor: Chen Ching-Fang) 1150513
