(Central News Agency, Taipei, May 12) The White House announced that US President Donald Trump will arrive in Beijing on the 13th for a three-day visit. Foreign media reported that two hotels within a 10-minute walk from the US Embassy in China are no longer accepting reservations, leading to speculation that they might be where Trump will stay during his visit.

Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao reported on the 11th, citing sources from Chinese travel booking platforms, that from May 12th to 15th, the Four Seasons Hotel Beijing at Liangmaqiao and the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center have no available rooms and are no longer accepting external reservations. Therefore, they are widely rumored to be the hotels where Trump might stay.

Regarding the Four Seasons Hotel, based on its official website and online information, the hotel in Chaoyang District "overlooks the clusters of foreign embassies and international headquarters," featuring 247 guest rooms and 66 suites, equipped with an indoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and a luxurious spa.

The report stated that the US Embassy in Beijing, located just a 10-minute walk from these two hotels, has heightened security since last weekend, prohibiting vehicles from stopping outside the embassy.

According to the White House announcement, during Trump's visit to China, in addition to participating in a series of high-level meetings between the US and China, he will visit the Temple of Heaven on the afternoon of the 14th, accompanied by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Temple of Heaven was used by emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for sacrificial rituals.

The report mentioned that on the 11th, tourists at the Temple of Heaven Park were taking photos and checking in as usual; however, according to a notice from the Temple of Heaven Park, the park will be temporarily closed from the 13th to the 14th.

The report indicated that from some details on site, it can be inferred that high-level security measures are being intensively arranged. Near the famous attractions of the Temple of Heaven Park, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the Imperial Vault of Heaven, black sedans and business vehicles with Beijing A...JW license plates slowly drove through the crowds taking photos. Beijing license plates with the suffix JW are typically used for national security vehicles, ensuring the safety and travel of important leaders.

Furthermore, the report described that around various attractions in the park, there were noticeably more young people in black or white T-shirts with strong physiques; uniformed security personnel were also more numerous than usual. At the entrance to the Circular Mound Altar, a man in black showed his ID to the duty security guard, claiming to be a "paramilitary police officer," and asked the guard to let him in to survey the terrain.

Zhu Feng, Dean of the School of International Relations at Nanjing University, told Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao that the Temple of Heaven is a place where ancient Chinese sacrificial rituals were held, and Trump has a strong religious consciousness, so this itinerary "largely reflects Trump's taste."

The report also mentioned that when Trump visited China during his first term in November 2017, he stayed at the St. Regis Beijing near Jianguomen, and several other US presidents, including Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama, also stayed at this hotel during their visits to China.

However, the St. Regis Beijing is still accepting reservations from the general public during Trump's visit this week, so it is not expected to be involved in the reception work. (Edited by: Chou Hui-ying / Chen Kai-yu) 1150512
