Central News Agency (Reporter Huang Ciao-wen, Taipei 12th) Taiwan Railways (TRA) reported that a district train (No. 4221) traveling from Suao to Beihu experienced a brake malfunction tonight. At Erjie Station, the retaining brake was abnormal and could not be released. While the empty train was being dispatched back to Yilan for repairs, sparks were generated from the bogie due to the brake remaining engaged during travel. Passengers were subsequently arranged to transfer to another train.

TRA explained via message that today's No. 4221 district train at Erjie Station had a retaining brake malfunction, preventing its release. Passengers were subsequently arranged to transfer to train No. 4229.

TRA stated that while train No. 4221 was being dispatched empty from Erjie to Yilan for repairs, sparks were generated from the bogie due to the brake remaining engaged during travel.
