(Central News Agency reporter Gao Huajian, Taipei, 12th) The National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center announced that two social housing projects in Tainan City and Kaohsiung City, totaling 890 units, will open for their first round of applications. In addition, two other projects in Taoyuan City and Tainan City will open for supplementary applications, expected to release 207 units. Furthermore, in conjunction with revisions to the Housing Act, the eligibility for marriage and child-rearing households has been expanded to include families with minor children under 18. Applications for these four projects, totaling 1097 units, will be accepted starting May 22.

The National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center held a press conference today for the second quarter 2026 social housing rental announcement, with attendees including CEO Ke Maorong, Head of Leasing Department Gao Yixin, and Deputy Director of Asset Management Department Wei Yalan.

Wei Yalan stated that "Xinshi Anju," the first central social housing project in Tainan City's Xinshi District, is located near the Tainan Science Park. It offers studio and two-bedroom units, totaling 670 units. "Fushan Anju" is located in Kaohsiung's Zuoying District, near the three-in-one high-speed rail, railway, and MRT station, and the Kaohsiung Science Park (Nanzih Park). It offers studio, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units, totaling 220 units. Both projects are situated within the Southern Semiconductor S-Corridor industrial and living circle, helping to support the housing needs of the working population.

Wei Yalan also mentioned that each project reserves 8% for military, police, and firefighter households, 10% for good neighbor households, and 20% for marriage and child-rearing households. In line with the revised Housing Act, the definition of marriage and child-rearing families has been expanded this quarter. In addition to maintaining the existing eligibility for newlyweds within two years, the criteria for child-rearing families has been relaxed from having children aged 0-6 (preschool age) to including minor children aged 7-17.

Wei Yalan added that "Ciwen Anju" in Taoyuan's Arts and Culture Special Zone, offering 33 studio units, and "Xindu Anju A" in the Southern Tainan Station Sub-center living area, offering 151 studio units and 23 two-bedroom units, will also simultaneously open for supplementary applications.

Wei Yalan pointed out that to shorten the waiting time for residents to rent and to utilize social housing resources more effectively, the three-bedroom units of "Xindu Anju A," although still having waitlisted households, will also accept applications this time to establish a supplementary roster, allowing for quick sequential filling of vacancies in the future.

In addition, the National Land Management Agency supplemented that as of the end of April this year, the total number of social housing units nationwide has reached 236,042, with over 70,000 units directly built by the central government. By the end of this year, according to construction progress, thousands of marriage and child-rearing housing units will be released in 9 counties and cities, including New Taipei City, Miaoli County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Nantou County, Hualien County, and Taitung County. Within the next three years, an additional 10,000 units will be released, allowing families with preschool children to reside for up to 12 years.

The National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center stated that applications for these four projects will be accepted from May 22 to June 22, with a public lottery scheduled for September 17, and the earliest move-in date set for December 1. Central social housing applications adopt a 24-hour online application system.
