(Central News Agency reporter Chang Hsiung-feng, Taipei, 12th) The Central Weather Bureau today issued a high-temperature warning for Tainan and Pingtung, urging caution for localized temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius. Weather expert Wu Der-rong stated that from today, the central and northern regions will gradually turn cloudy and rainy, and from tomorrow until the 15th, various areas will experience showers and thunderstorms, with a need to watch out for sudden heavy rainfall.

The Central Weather Bureau today issued a high-temperature warning, indicating hot and humid weather. Tainan City is under an orange light signal around noon today, with a chance of continuous temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius; Pingtung County is under a yellow light signal, with caution for localized temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius.

Wu Der-rong, an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated today in his "Leaking Heavenly Secrets Classroom" column for the Meteorological Applications Promotion Foundation that the latest European model simulations show that a front is brewing in South China today. Daytime temperatures will remain warm and hot across Taiwan, with increasing mid-level clouds in central and northern regions, occasional scattered light rain, and more significant afternoon rainfall in mountainous areas and eastern Taiwan.

Wu Der-rong stated that the latest model simulations show that the third plum rain front (May and June) will gradually move south on the 12th and 13th. Northern, eastern, and central Taiwan will experience localized showers or thunderstorms, with a slight drop in temperature; on the 15th, the front will move further south, bringing localized showers or thunderstorms to all areas. From the 13th to the 15th, attention should be paid to the impact of convective cells accompanied by lightning, strong winds, and sudden heavy rainfall.

Wu Der-rong pointed out that on the 16th, the front will continue to move south to the Bashi Channel, and the weather will stabilize and become warm and hot across Taiwan, with localized afternoon showers or thunderstorms still possible in central and southern regions; from the 17th to the 21st, the front will move away, the atmosphere will become increasingly stable, and daytime temperatures will be summer-like, with localized brief afternoon rainfall still possible in mountainous areas. He noted that there are significant differences in the late-stage simulations of various international models, and continuous adjustments will occur, so continued observation is necessary.
