(Central News Agency reporter Huang Chiao-Wen, Taipei, 12th) Taiwan High Speed Rail's first set of new generation N700ST trains is expected to arrive in Taiwan in August. Chairman Shih Che today "unboxed" the new train's toilet design via his Facebook fan page, revealing smart bidet toilets, dedicated washbasins outside the toilets with curtains for convenient touch-ups, and power outlets in both the washbasins and nursing rooms.

Taiwan High Speed Rail has purchased 12 sets of new generation N700ST trains from Japan. As the delivery schedule approaches, Chairman Shih Che has been continuously "unboxing" the high-speed rail's exterior and interior through the official Facebook fan page. Following the exposure of the new train's "platypus" exterior, windows, and sunken seats, today he released a video showcasing the interior and exterior of the toilets and nursing rooms.

Shih Che stated that all high-speed rail toilets will be equipped with smart bidet seats, and small toilets will have washbasins. There will also be dedicated washbasins outside the toilets, equipped with curtains that passengers can pull up from behind for convenient touch-ups. He also mentioned that power outlets are installed in the exterior washbasins and inside the nursing rooms, emphasizing their "utmost thoughtfulness."

Regarding when the new trains will begin passenger service, Shih Che pointed out that the first set of new generation N700ST trains is expected to leave the factory at the end of July and arrive in Taiwan in August. The new trains will gradually come online starting in the middle of next year.

According to Taiwan High Speed Rail's plan, all 12 sets of N700ST will be fully operational by the end of 2028, with an estimated 25% increase in peak hour transport capacity. (Editor: Chang Ya-Ching) 1150512
