(Central News Agency reporter Chiang Ming-yen, Taipei, 12th) The themes of AI data centers and silicon photonics continue to heat up, driving the optical communication sector to strengthen across the board today, with companies like Sercomm-KY, Lumentum, and IET-KY hitting their daily limits. Largan Precision, a leading optical lens manufacturer, also actively entered the Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) field, with its stock price hitting the daily limit during intraday trading.

The optical communication sector saw significant gains, with Sercomm-KY, Lumentum, and IET-KY hitting their daily limits, and Unimicron and Epistar rising over 9%. Largan Precision's stock price also surged to its daily limit, reaching NT$2795, immediately surpassing all short-term moving averages, due to its entry into the CPO field.

Largan Precision's recent entry into the CPO field is expected to allow it to enter the AI data center supply chain as a supplier of precision optical components. Largan Precision Chairman Lin En-ping previously stated that samples are currently being prepared for customer certification, but yield issues still need to be addressed, and mass production is 'still a long way off.'

Market rumors suggest that Largan Precision is developing key components for silicon photonics, such as prisms and collimators for beam steering, as well as silicon photonics-related optical transmission components, becoming a crucial player in Fiber Array Units (FAU).

Lin En-ping added that FAU (Fan-out Unit) related components require extremely high precision in alignment, and the key alignment equipment is self-developed by Largan Precision. The key to success lies in 'whether more accurate and faster alignment can be achieved.' As for mass production plans, it can only enter mass production after samples are sent and qualified by customers. The deployment of production capacity is expected to take 1 to 2 years, and equipment suppliers also need to adjust, which is one of the factors. (Editor: Yang Kai-hsiang) 1150512
